Workshop Terms & Release

These terms apply to all candle-making and fragrance-making workshops operated by Element Brooklyn LLC (Element Brooklyn, we, us). By booking a seat you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and every attendee on your booking, and you confirm you have shared them with your guests.

Booking and payment

Seats are confirmed only once payment is complete. The person who books is responsible for providing accurate names and email addresses for each attendee, and for making sure each attendee receives their confirmation and these terms.

Cancellations, changes, and no-shows

Cancel more than 48 hours before your session start time for a full refund. Within 48 hours, seats are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled, including no-shows. Seats are transferable — if you can't make it, send someone in your place at no charge by updating the attendee name before the session.

Cancel or reschedule through the link in your confirmation email or your account page. We can't process cancellations by phone.

Arriving late

Sessions start on time. Arrive at least ten minutes early. Attendees arriving more than fifteen minutes after the start time may not be able to join, in which case the seat is treated as a no-show and is not refundable.

Age

You must be 18 or older to book. Attendees aged 13 to 17 may participate when accompanied by a booking adult who remains present for the full session and accepts these terms on their behalf. Children under 13 cannot participate or be seated at the workspace.

Allergies, sensitivities, and health

Our workshops involve fragrance oils, essential oils, aroma chemicals, botanical extracts, dyes, and — in candle workshops — heated wax. Airborne fragrance is present throughout the space. If you have fragrance sensitivities, respiratory conditions, skin allergies, or are pregnant or nursing, please consider this before booking and consult your physician if you have any concerns. We cannot guarantee a scent-free or allergen-free environment, and we cannot accommodate individual ingredient exclusions. Tell your instructor about any allergy or condition before the session begins.

Products made in our workshops have not been evaluated by the FDA. Perfume oils and sprays are for external use only. Patch test before applying to skin, keep away from eyes and broken skin, and discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Safety and instruction

Candle workshops involve wax heated to roughly 185°F and hot equipment including melters and pouring pitchers. Follow all instructions from our staff. We may ask you to stop participating, or ask you to leave, if you are not following safety guidance. Closed-toe shoes are recommended. We recommend against wearing clothing you'd be upset to spill wax or oil on.

Assumption of risk and release

You understand that participation carries inherent risks, including burns and other heat-related injuries, allergic or respiratory reactions, skin irritation, cuts, slips, spills, eye injury, and damage to clothing and personal property. You participate voluntarily and assume these risks.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and discharge Element Brooklyn LLC and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, instructors, and venue partners from all claims, demands, liabilities, and causes of action arising from or relating to your participation, your presence on the premises, or your use of the products you create, whether before, during, or after the session. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim brought by or on behalf of you or a minor on your booking.

Our total liability in connection with a workshop will not exceed the amount you paid for it.

Your finished products

Candles need to cure before burning — we'll tell you how long. Once your candle, perfume oil, room spray, or diffuser leaves our space, its storage, handling, and use are your responsibility. Burn candles on a heat-safe surface, within sight, away from anything flammable, drafts, pets, and children, and trim the wick before each use. We are not responsible for injury, fire, or property damage resulting from use of products made in a workshop.

Anything made in a workshop is for personal use. You may not sell, resell, or commercially distribute products made in our sessions, and you may not use them to promote a competing business.

Conduct

We reserve the right to refuse service to, or remove, anyone who is disruptive, unsafe, intoxicated, or disrespectful to staff or other guests, without refund. Outside alcohol is not permitted unless we have arranged it in advance for a private booking.

Photography

Element Brooklyn photographs and films in our spaces. By attending, you consent to the use of your likeness in our marketing, social media, editorial, and promotional materials without compensation. Tell a staff member on arrival if you'd prefer not to appear, and we'll work around you.

Changes and cancellations by us

We may cancel or reschedule a session for low enrollment, staffing, weather, equipment failure, or circumstances beyond our control. If we cancel, you'll be offered a transfer to another session or a full refund. That is the limit of our responsibility — we are not liable for travel, accommodation, or other costs.

Instructors, scent selections, vessels, and session details may change based on availability.

Private and group bookings

Private sessions and group buyouts are governed by these terms plus the terms of your booking confirmation, including deposit, minimum guest count, and final-count deadline. Deposits for private bookings are non-refundable within 14 days of the event.

Personal belongings

Keep track of your things. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property, including damage to clothing from wax, oil, or dye.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms at any time; the version in effect when you book is the version that applies to your session.
